How our “Pay It Forward” tickets work

Carcosa Dreams is a small company, and our ticket prices are pitched to cover the cost of the event, including a consideration to the team and crew working in a professional capacity. We try to price our events across a spectrum of paypoints, because we believe it’s important to keep LARP available as a low-cost hobby for as many people as possible, but also to produce “prestige” events at a higher price point and production quality to demonstrate what our hobby can achieve.

To assist with the wider availability of events, we offer Concession tickets to anyone who wishes to attend, but is unable to justify the cost for whatever reason. We offer “Pay it Forward” add-ons to all our full-price event tickets, the results of all of which go into a budget for concession ticket discounts, which Carcosa Dreams will then augment depending on our current financial situation and budgets. That amount is then divided up by the number of people who have requested concession tickets, and tickets are offered to those people at a discounted rate.

Depending on the event, Concession tickets may be subject to an initial payment which will be refunded if you are unable to accept the eventual concession rate.

This does mean that the amount of the concession discount varies a lot depending on the generosity of other ticket holders and our recent events, and also that concession tickets are only offered a while after full price tickets have been on sale. While we recognise this is not ideal, we consider this the best and fairest way to maintain a concessions discount without jeopardising our events budget.
